What is this?
The Assistant is a chat panel available everywhere in the platform, in both the Workspace and Platform views. It opens from a button in the header, next to the notifications bell — it isn’t a page in the left sidebar. It docks as a full-height column on the right of the screen (full-screen on phones), so the rest of the app keeps working next to it instead of being covered. [SCREENSHOT: ai-assistant-header-button — The Assistant button in the header, next to the notifications bell] [SCREENSHOT: ai-assistant-panel-chat — The Assistant panel open on the right, showing the greeting and suggested questions for the current page]The Assistant needs the AI Assist add-on. If your plan doesn’t include it, the header button stays visible but appears locked, with a lock icon and the tooltip “AI Assist is not included in your current plan. Please contact support or purchase the add-on to enable this feature.” It also needs an active channel with an AI Setting configured — see AI Agents.
What can I do here?
- Ask questions about your workspace in plain language — counts, summaries, and lookups across contacts, conversations, automations, campaigns, and more
- Get a handful of suggested starter questions tailored to whatever page you’re currently on
- Search the platform’s real documentation from the Docs view without leaving the panel, and ask a follow-up question about a specific guide
- Have the assistant propose a change (like updating a contact or sending a template) as a card you review and Confirm — nothing runs until you do
- Start a new conversation, or reopen and delete past ones from History
How to use it
1
Open the Assistant
Click the Assistant button in the header, next to the bell. Click it again (it turns into a ×) to close the panel.
2
Ask a question
Type in the box at the bottom and press Enter to send (Shift + Enter for a new line), or click one of the suggested questions shown above the input — these change depending on the page you’re on. Messages are limited to 4,000 characters. While the assistant is replying, its steps appear (for example “Checking your workspace…”) and you can click Stop to interrupt it.
3
Follow a guide it points to
If a reply links to a help page, or the panel offers “Read the guide,” clicking it opens that page in the Docs view instead of a new tab.
4
Confirm a proposed action
When the assistant proposes a change, it shows as a card with the change’s details. A card for something that reaches a customer (like sending a WhatsApp template) is marked Reaches the customer. Click Confirm to run it, or Cancel to discard it — the card then shows Running, Done, Failed, or Cancelled.
5
Search the docs
Click the book icon to switch to Docs. Browse by area and section, or type in the search box. Open a page to read it in place, use Previous / Next to move within the same section, click Ask about this page to bring a question about it into the chat, or Open in docs to view it on the docs site.
6
Manage conversations
Click the + icon to start a new chat. Click the history icon to see past conversations for the current channel and reopen one; hover a conversation and click the trash icon to delete it.
Troubleshooting / Technical Notes
- “Select a channel to use the assistant.” No channel is active. Pick one first.
- “Set up an active AI Setting for this channel to use the assistant.” The Assistant answers through the channel’s AI Setting — configure one before using it here.
- “This channel’s AI provider isn’t supported by the assistant yet.” Not every AI provider works with the Assistant yet.
- The header button is locked, with a lock icon. Your plan doesn’t include the AI Assist add-on. Contact support or purchase the add-on.
- “You’ve reached today’s assistant limit. Try again tomorrow.” There’s a daily cap of 200 messages per user, on a rolling 24-hour basis.
- A proposed action just says “Expired.” A Confirm card can only be confirmed for 30 minutes after it’s proposed. Ask the assistant again to get a fresh proposal.
- A message won’t send. Messages are capped at 4,000 characters — shorten it and try again.
- Your conversations are still there after closing the panel. Conversations aren’t deleted automatically; reopen one from History, or delete it yourself with the trash icon.
- The panel always shows a reminder below the input: “AI may make mistakes. Verify important information.”
