What is this?

The MCP tab in Platform Settings is an information page about the MCP (Model Context Protocol) server — the feature that lets AI tools such as Claude or Cursor connect to a workspace’s data. It has no settings of its own: it shows what the feature does, whether it is enabled, and a shortcut to Platform Visibility, where you control who sees it.
This tab requires the MCP add-on on your installation and platform. If it isn’t available, the tab shows a lock icon and a message that MCP is not included in your current plan — contact support or purchase the add-on to enable it.

What can I do here?

  • Read what the MCP server does: AI tools connect to /api/mcp with a workspace API key, and only workspace admins on a plan that includes MCP can use it
  • Check the Enabled badge to confirm the feature is available on your platform
  • Click Platform Visibility to open the visibility settings and control whether the feature is shown to users

How to use it

  1. Go to Platform Settings and open the MCP tab.
  2. Check that the Enabled badge is showing. If you see the lock icon instead, the add-on isn’t active.
  3. To show or hide MCP for users, click Platform Visibility (or open that tab) and change the MCP setting. See Platform Visibility.
  4. To give a customer access, turn on the MCP feature for them: it is a row on the user’s Features tab under Platform Users, or in the plan itself under Platform Plans.
For how users connect an AI client, see the MCP server guide and the tool catalog.

Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

  • The tab shows a lock icon. The MCP add-on isn’t active for your installation or platform. Purchase or enable the add-on.
  • Users cannot see MCP in the Developer Portal. Check the MCP setting in Platform Visibility. The Developer Portal hides the MCP tab when the feature isn’t licensed, and shows an Upgrade badge when it is licensed but not in the user’s plan.
  • A client gets 403 “MCP not included in your plan”. The key owner’s plan doesn’t include MCP. Turn on the MCP feature for that plan.
  • I can’t find any MCP settings to change. That’s expected — this tab is informational only.
