What is this?

The Domain Setup tab shows your platform’s primary domain and Platform ID, and lets you add a backup domain that users can also log in through. Full Domain Setup page

What can I do here?

  • View your Platform ID and copy it to the clipboard
  • View your Platform Domain and whether it’s Active or Inactive
  • Set, change, or clear a Backup / Fallback Domain

How to use it

  1. Go to Platform Settings → Domain Setup.
  2. Under Platform ID, click Copy to copy the ID to your clipboard.
  3. Review the Platform Domain and its status indicator (Active/Inactive).
  4. To add or change a backup domain, type it into the Backup / Fallback Domain field (e.g. backup.yourdomain.com) and click Save. Leave the field blank and save to disable it.
The in-app help text explains: “Point an additional domain to this platform. Users can log in through either domain. Leave blank to disable. Additional egress charges apply at $0.12/GB.”

Troubleshooting / Technical Notes

  • “Failed to load domain details.” The tab couldn’t load your domain information, and shows the error message it received. Reload the page, and check your connection and permissions.
  • The backup domain fails to save. The value isn’t checked for format before it’s sent, so the only feedback is the error message in the save notification. Enter just the domain name, such as login.example.com, and try again.
  • The Save button next to the backup domain is disabled. It only becomes available after you type in the field. Click into the field and enter the domain.
  • Where is the DNS or CNAME setup? This tab doesn’t include DNS or CNAME steps, DNS verification, or a credit balance. For custom domains on customer storefronts on a self-managed instance, see Cloudflare for SaaS.
